Indonesia Korea Youth Exchange Program (IKYEP)
One of the newest program launched by the Ministry of
Youth and Sport Republic Indonesia by the cooperation with the Government of
Korea Republic. The first project was in the end of 2010, departing 10 youth
delegations from 10 representative provinces in all over Indonesia. The
Indonesia – Korea Youth Exchange Program has the main aim of the mutual
understanding and friendship between two countries to improve join cooperation
for the future. The program divided into two phases: Korea Phase and Indonesia
Phase. Count the Pre-Departure Training camp, and re-entry phase, IKYEP program
is for at about 1 month.
In 2010, the delegations invited to experience the
exchange accommodated by the Korea Youth Exchange Centre and the Ministry of
Gender, Equality, and Family. There is no more word to express how amazing
Korea in the beauty of autumn, her most wonderful season. The delegations went
there by November 2010, and invited to go around by the cities of Seoul,
Daejeon, Goyang, and all around Korea. Experience the courtesy call to the
ministry, local governments, embassy, and many decisions maker departments
brought us a lot of information and inspirations toward how the Korean
Government play the great role especially looking forward how industrious South
Korea in the present. Witnessing Korean people way of life by the home stay and
interacted with foster family, also went around to the richness of Korea, pop
culture also traditional in both, the high technology of their industries like
LG factory, and high research system in Korea Aerospace Research Institute.
Challenging experience as delegation of youth, we presented Indonesia for some
legal institutions pointed by the Government of Korea. Just in a short time, 10
days, we gained the priceless moments with Korean people and stories never end
to be told.
Indonesian Phase 2010, both delegations from Korea
and Indonesia, went to Jakarta, Bandung, and Bogor for 10 days. In those cities
we also made delightful courtesy calls to the national and local governments’
body, youth organizations, cross cultural presentations, and sharing to the
local people of Indonesia. We’ve been taught how a good way to play angklung in
Saung Angklung Udjo, having fun by tea walk in Bogor, go to Islamic Boarding
School (pesantren), and sharing a lot especially to young people for they
became aware of their potential and inspired more and more people because the
glory of a nation started from its youth generation. Coming to the laboratory
of SEAFAST and Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), as delegations, we learned how
the research conducted by the university. Great chance as an adventure for you,
who are curious of new experiences and learning things. Last but not least the
unforgettable homestay program in Bogor, however Korea and Indonesia have such
different original way of life. As the first program, IKYEP develop more and
more for 2011 and years ahead to be better.
How honored we are to be part of
this program, even more this is the first delegations going to Korea,
representing the youth of Republic Indonesia. Both of the countries are the
emerging power of Asia, and cooperation between them hopefully strongly
conducted by now.
Indonesia Canada Youth Exchange Program (ICYEP)
Indonesia Canada Youth Exchange Program (ICYEP)
Prepare yourself to the
most dynamic international youth exchange program. ICYEP has several features
that could turn your life upside down: a counterpart pair system, voluntary
work placements, host families, your group dynamics, community development
programs, and the two opposite environment between Canada and rural Indonesia.
In this program,
you will meet your counterpart, a Canadian male/female which is bonded to you.
With your counterpart, you share most of your living experiences during the
program, aside from the relationship dynamics you may encounter with him/her.
You will share the same room, living under the same roof, and working with your
counterpart 24 hour a day, 7 days a week.
You also obliged to
spend most of your days in a week at your agreed work placements. The work
placements could be a school, research center, food bank, youth center, etc. At
these places, you will do your tasks given by your supervisor. If lucky, you
could have a golden access travelling to another part of Canada trough your
work placement.
Bonded together with a
group of strangers could be very exciting or stressful. Any one of
this group dynamic which may occurs in your group, depends on how your
group manage it.
During the program,
your group dynamic will flow up and down, carving everlasting memories for
every participant who could accomplished this program up to the end.
Some participants even bring the memories forever trough a marriage
between them.
All fun, challenges,
and memories in this program are built over one big theme as its core:
community development.
This issue has been this program core for long under
different applications such as health, education, and culture. In every
phase, either Indonesia or Canada, all groups of participants are challenged to
create a community development
program which could be
useful for their host communities. In some cases, some group participants could
trace back their legacy at their former communities more than 20 years ago.
Last but not least, the
differences between both countries has been triggered many participants to
experience many new things in their life. They learn new culture, norms, and
values at their new host family and communities; adapt with new climate and
customs in both phase of the program; and learn to put themselves in the proper
portion between counterpart, group, and communities–which may not easy. All
little stories of this wonderful experiences will knit a memory which often
times stays in the former participant’s heart. If you are looking for a new
adventure which may turns your life, ICYEP will welcome you.
However, many people
could through this challenge, many people are sent home. Which one are you?

China Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (ChiYEP)
This
exchange program is considerably new as it is only going to be held for the

that of IKYEP (Indonesia Korea Youth Exchange Program). The total duration of
the program is 10 days in China.
Ship for South East Asia Youth Program (SSEAYP)
The
Ship for South East Asia Youth Program is a youth exchange program that was
pioneered by the ASEAN countries and Japan in 1974. As the number of
members in ASEAN grew, in 1997 all members in ASEAN have been finally
participating in this
program.
This program is handled by the participating countries with Japan as the
main sponsor.
In Indonesia, this
program is conducted under the Ministry of Youth and Sport. Generally, this
program’s main purpose is to strengthen the network and mutual understanding in
culture among countries in South East Asia and Japan. In addition, SSEAYP
itself is based on the
intention to motivate
the youth in improving international cooperation through implementation of
different activities during the program
From the bird’s eye
view, the activities during the program are divided into two main categories:
On board activities (when the ship sails), and Country Program (when the ship
is berthing).
The on board activities
consist of:
§ Discussion: Participants are
divided into discussion group based on different themes. The participants are
expected to enhance their knowledge by exchanging information among different
countries and situation.
§ Solidarity Group
Activities:
Aside from being grouped based on the country of origin, the participants are
also grouped along with other participants from different countries. In
Solidarity Group (SG), they will interact and get involved in many self
initiated activities during the program. These activities are expected
tobenefit in stronger mutual understanding.
§ Club Activities: Representatives from
each country are provided an opportunity to share their cultural
knowledge by teaching and demonstrating to participants from other
countries. The presentation in this activity is expected to give an actual
exposition about culture in order to reveal the true fact.
§ Cultural Performance and
Exhibition:
The cultural performance on board the ship is displayed in a large hall that is
specifically designed for a stage performance. This activity is often
considered as the most favorite activity by the participants, hence very
attractive. Many participants have only performed in this scale once in their
life, but it doesn’t mean they will perform poorly. Hard training and exercise
will be received by the participants so that they will be able to deliver their
best in front of other countries during the program.
The
country program consists of:
1.Courtesy Call: An official visit to
the governmental institution.
2.Institutional Visit: A visit to an
institution whose theme supports the general theme carried by the program.
3.Interaction with the Local Youth.
4.Homestay
